Hailing from Chatham, New Jersey, Alex Laferriere currently dons the Los Angeles Kings jersey.
During the 2019-20 season, Alex showcased his prowess with the Des Moines Buccaneers in the USHL. His exceptional performance led him to secure the title of Team MVP, and he ranked an impressive 18th in the league in scoring, boasting 45 points through 42 games, comprising 19 goals and 26 assists. This remarkable achievement caught the attention of hockey enthusiasts and earned him a spot in the 2020 BioSteel All-American Game. Furthermore, his potential was noticed as he was ranked 61st among North American skaters in the final 2020 NHL Draft Prospect rankings.
Upon advancing to the collegiate level, Alex continued to shine, choosing to further his education and hockey career at Harvard. Throughout 69 NCAA games, he demonstrated his prowess by amassing 73 points, a combination of 35 goals and 38 assists. During his time wearing the Crimson jersey, Alex achieved a remarkable array of awards, establishing himself as a standout player in collegiate hockey. His accolades included being named the 2021-22 ECAC Rookie of the Year, earning a place on the 2022-23 All-Tournament Team, and being recognized as a Second Team All-Star. These prestigious honors underscore his exceptional talent and contribution to his team’s success during his college career.
In recognition of his exceptional talent, the Los Angeles Kings selected Alex in the 3rd round of the 2020 NHL Draft, with the 83rd overall pick. This milestone marked the beginning of his journey into the NHL. On October 11, 2023, he made his NHL debut, squaring off against the Colorado Avalanche.
